Omni Air Transport, a leading jet management and air charter operator based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, announced today its successful audit by the Department of Defense Civilian Airlift Review Board (CARB) certifying the company to fly airlift support missions for federal and state government agencies.
The CARB certification is awarded to a very small group of air charter operators in the country and is the final step in the contract qualification process in the Domestic Charter Aircraft Service program sponsored by the Defense Department and the United States Transportation Command.
“We are thrilled to have completed this last step in a very intensive process towards this DOD certification. We have devoted a lot of time and resources towards this award, and, although we initially qualified as a bidder on government airlift support missions, we needed this final audit and approval to begin ramping up for these missions. We are fortunate to have recruited Major General (Ret) Mark Volcheff as our consultant, who comes to us with over 32 years of military and commercial airlift experience, to help us with our positioning for these contracts,” says Mike Skow, president of Omni Air Transport.
The CARB certification is a sought after credential in the private air industry and distinguishes Omni Air Transport as a leading charter operator in its class. More importantly, the DOD certification is another important step in its commitment to earning the top safety and service credentials in the industry, including Argus Platinum and the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO), both of which it has previously earned, and Wyvern Wingman, which it expects to achieve later this year.
“We are strongly committed to meeting and exceeding every safety standard in our industry and are very proud that we’ve earned the DOD certification to achieve this. We have invested a lot of time and resources towards this effort, including having a full-time Director of Safety on our management team, and are confident we’ve built a solid foundation to continue to grow our charter operations in Tulsa and beyond,” according to Skow.
